A prestige axe of the Luba, from Southeast Congo. With a narrow, long blade made of brass. The black-dyed wooden shaft is adorned with numerous brass decorative nails and two wraps made of brass wire. First half of the 20th century; h: 52.5 cm, B: 23 cm (with blade on top). (ME)
