Yoruba, Nigeria: A pair of ‘ibeji twin figures’ (two pieces), female and male. Style: Oyo. - Tribal Art

Among the Yoruba people twins are regarded as something special (for a more detailed explanation see cat. no 58). The present pair of such ‘ibeji twin figures’, male and female, is carved in light-coloured, lightweight wood, coloured in brown and standing on round bases.
