We are grateful to Laurens Schoemaker of the RKD for identifying the painting’s topography (Veere).
A signed seascape by the rare painter Geerharts is preserved in the collection of the Duke of Beaufort, Badminton House. It display all the stylistic features of the present pair of paintings.
