Christian Leberecht Vogel, Dresden 1759-1816, painter, draughtsman and art theoretician, as a painter, his speciality was children’s portraits. The portrait on the plate was modelled on a ‘Bildnis eines Kindes, vor einem Bilderbuch’, c. 1810, presumably his son, Carl Christian Vogel.
