Flower seller, - Works of Art (Furniture, Sculpture, Glass and porcelain)

holding a flower in her right hand and various flowers in her apron, base covered in flowers, porcelain, polychrome and gilt group, height 12 cm, some restoration, Vienna, Imperial Manufactory, impressed shield mark 1744-1749, model by Johann Josef Niedermayer (Ru)

Lit. cf.: Zeremonien, Feste, Kostüme, Vienna 2011, p. 38 ff; Johann Josef Niedermayer, Vienna 1710-1784, 1738-1743 student and drawing master at the Viennese Academy, 1747-1784 modelling master at the Viennese Manufactory; he was commissioned to produce new, especially modern, forms and models. His stylistic forbears included Jakob van Schuppen and he took inspiration from the work of Georg Raphael Donner. The Providentia Fountain, completed in 1739, on the former Mehlmarkt, today Neuer Markt, provided him with motifs.
