A rare pair of table Globes by Matthäus Seutter (1678–1757) - Clocks, Metalwork, Faience, Folk Art, Sculptures +Antique Scientific Instruments and Globes

Augsburg, first half of 18th century, the terrestrial globe ”GLOBUS TERRESTRIS / juxta recentissimas ob / servation et navigationes / peritissimor. Geograph. / accuratissimae delineat / cura et sumtibus / MATTH. SEUTTERI. Chalcogr. August:” and “Hoc est illud punctum / quod inter tot Gentes / Ferro et Igne / dividitur: / Senec.”, the celestial globe “Globus coelestis / in quo / omnes Alterismi / accurate delinenti / cura et impensi / Matthaei Seutteri / Chalcogr. August”, both globes made up of 12 hand-colored engraved paper gores and two polar calottes on papermache-sphere, full iron meridian circles, wood stand with octogonal horizon and four pillars; small damages and repairs. Diameter c. 20 cm, height c. 35 cm. (WU).
