square brass movement, square movement supports, spring-driven via chain and fusee, 1/4 hour striking mechanism on bells on the top and in the plinth, power reserve: 1 day, brass gears arranged one behind another, verge escapement, horizontal balance, regulator, count wheel, the facing side with separate hour- and minute index, the reverse side with control dials for the striking mechanism, engraved silvered translucent enamelled dials, gilt clock hands, gilt architectural bronze clock case, 13 twisted finials, fluted, 4 column ebony clock case with drawer, hipped ebonised softwood plinth, winged bronze paw feet of later date, 30 cm, Germany, probably Augsburg, 17th Cent., fundamentally in functional and well-maintained condition, traces of wear and restoration, no warranty for precision of movement and long-term functioning, (HP)
