Shirvan Kelley,
East Caucasus, c. 325 x 160 cm, about 1900, an ethnologically highly interesting oriental carpet with kilim design and disparate scattered designs including human and animal patterns, at the upper end two inscription cartouches with illegible date inserted against the direction of the knots, the cartouches are crossed horizontally by some rows of cotton knots and some silk knots, pile with only slight signs of wear and corroded aubergine - despite this, the piece is overall well-preserved for its age, lower end with original woven finish, at the upper end remains of warp braiding still visible, edges and fringes damaged.
