Medallion ushak,
West Anatolia (Turkey), c. 650 x 335 cm, 17th century ushak carpets are always entirely made of wool in symmetrical knots with a red weft thread, the first known large medallion carpets date back to the end of the 16th century; especially noteworthy in this specimen is its extremely large format with massive border frame, classic oval medallion with a beautiful star-shaped hanger and carefully executed corner spandrels, original ends and side edges, despite age-related low pile there are no extensive repairs worth mentioning.
