West Persia (Iran), c. 412 x 320 cm, end of the 19th century, the English company Ziegler & Co established manufactories in the Arak region, the output of which was destined for export to the West at the end of the 19th century, today the name Ziegler is still regarded as a trademark for antique, pastel-coloured carpets of the highest pattern and knotting quality, the present piece is an especially beautiful specimen of its kind, despite being very heavily worn with consistently low pile and bare areas, both long sides trimmed with fabric border.
