Zara sivas,
East Anatolia (Turkey), c. 200 x 130 cm, about 1900, Armenians from the village of Zara, about 70 km east of Sivas, produced the finest weavings from the region, these carpets were often manufactured only with stripe patterns, the present piece displays a rare, blue-ground double niche with columns, consistently low pile with minor holes and some major repairs, both ends cut short, shirazi repaired.
