Early baroque cupboard, - Property from Aristocratic Estates and Important Provenance

ca. 1700/20, dark stained hard- and softwood cabinet with pilaster strips in the form of balusters, 1 door with vaulted panel and flame strip (Flammstab) decoration, as well as ornamental floral carvings, handles on the sides, 119 x 83 x 45 cm, signs of age and use. (DOC)

Provenance: Prince and Count Lónyay of Nagy-Lónya and Vásáros–Namény

The first ancestors of this Hungarian family can be traced back to the 11th Century. The family became known in the 17th Century and was elevated to Barons in 1627.
br>Elemér Edmund Lónyay married Crown Princess Dowager Archduchess Stephanie in 1900 in the chapel of Schloss Miramare in Trieste. In 1917 the family was elevated to the rank of Princes.
