A ceiling light from the Filmcasino movie theatre in Vienna, designed by Albrecht F. Hrzan,
1954, polished aluminium sheet, red lacquered suspension, fluorescent tubes, height 35 cm, diameter 94 cm. (DRAX)
Between 1954 and 1959, Albrecht F. Hrzan rebuilt the “Margaretener Bürgerkino” into a modern movie theatre, the “Filmcasino”. There were altogether ten of these ceiling lights, which, however, were removed after several weeks because the light turned out to disturb film projection as it reflected in the shining shades.
