Schütte-Lihotzky used this chair in Model House No. 7 of the Rosental housing estate in Vienna’s 13th district, which she designed together with Adolf Loos. The initiative had come from Otto Neurath, the founder of the Austrian Association for Housing and Small Gardens, who, in 1923, organised a large open-air exhibition in order to highlight housing, gardening, and planning as elements of social life through buildings, furniture, and models.
