"Kleiner Palast der Krankheit" (Small palace of illness), Japanese woodcut in colour from the portfolio: Nana Hyaku Mizu, signed by hand, dated Hundertwasser Regentag 1970, no. 66 of 200 numbered copies, block size 34,5 x 24 cm, sheet size 36,5 x 26 cm, mount, framed, Koschatzky/Fürst HWG 38, (EH)
This Japanese colour woodcut was after the watercolour "Kleiner Palast der Krankheit" of 1961. Transferring this very freely painted image, defined more in terms of coloured areas than of lines, to the woodcut required a very complex approach. Nakamura (jr.), who printed the "Kleiner Palast der Krankheit", produced about 20 plates. The expensive colouring led to an exceptional sheet.
