A rare brass Theodolite by Hektor Rössler (1779–1863) - Antique Scientific Instruments and Globes

signed “H. Roessler a Darmstadt”, silver scales on horizontal and vertical full circle, bubble level on telescope stand, telescope with focussing, tripod with screw feet; lacquer, bubble level (or compass) missing, Telescope lens diameter c. 21 mm, length c. 32 cm, total height c. 34 cm. (WU).

Hektor Rössler oder Roessler (1779-1863) war Münzmeister und Hof-Mechanicus in Darmstadt, später außerdem Sekretär des Gewerbevereines. Es heisst, Carl Zeiss hätte 1840 bei Rössler gearbeitet.
