Rare Empire psyche mirror,
Probably France circa 1810. Made in pearwood, dyed to mahogany colour, set on a four-sided base with casters in the form of carved sea-snakes, the outer frame with caryatids at the angles, bronze mounts, also a figure of a reclining female nude atop. The pivoting mirror with facetted glass. 203 x 77.5 cm. Some ageing, various parts replaced, candle holders now missing. (PZ)
