Baroque bureau cabinet, - Works of Art (Furniture, Sculpture)

German, ca. 1700/20. A bureau cabinet a deux corps, made in birch and burl birch veneer over softwood, with marquetry panels in mahogany. The lower section has four drawers with supports, a writing section with a fall front and four interior drawers with green dyed fronts. The upper section with concave shaping has a moulded and arched central terminal, one door with a facetted and cut glass mirror, a door with cross-banded walnut veneering and central green section, similarly decorated interior drawers and pull-out compartment. Approx. 200 x 104 x 50 cm. Wood parts replaced, in highly cared-for condition. (DOC)
