Karapinar fragment,
Central Anatolia (Turkey), c. 150 (166) x 102 (118) cm, end of the 18th century, column prayer carpets constitute a special group, with prayer niches on top of each other like a flight of stairs to represent the “celestial ladder”, the carpet is preserved only as a fragment with remains of the side edges, both ends reduced, some holes, pile in good condition in spite of the almost completely corroded brown, underside lined entirely with linen.
