Baluch front,
Northeast Persia (Iran), c. 60 x 60 cm (75 x 75 cm, incl. frame), end of the 19th century, knotted bag face of a former Khordjin with the typical colours of the Khorasan region, knotworks with mythological bird patterns are much sought-after collector’s pieces, this item depicts four rows of four partly crowned animals, the groups in each row facing in opposite directions, most comparable “bird bags” also display a white animal, which is not present in either the current item or the second specimen in this catalogue, good pile with heavily oxidised brown, woven closure straps almost completely preserved, back part missing, side edges preserved only in part, mounted on linen and framed.
