Mayer-Marton was a student at the Viennese Academy of the Fine Arts from 1919 under Neuwirth and at the Munich Academy of Arts under Marr; he emigrated to the UK in 1938, from 1943 he was a professor at the Arts Council in London and at the College of Art in Liverpool. From 1925–1938 he was a member of the Hagenbund.
