First design for an illustration in the fairy tale "Stumme Liebe" (Silent love) on page 445 of the luxury edition in one volume by: J. K. A. Musäus, Volksmärchen der Deutschen, Leipzig, Mayer und Wigand, 1842. See Hoff-Budde, Adrian Ludwig Richter, Maler und Radierer, Verzeichnis seines gesamten graphischen Werkes, No. 946. The woodcut was produced by Peupin; however it is somewhat more detailed than the drawing. The present drawing is missing the house on the left side, the perpendicular sign of the tailor’s shop and the small dog in the foreground.
