Provenance: collector’s mark Conte di Bardi (Lugt 336) on the recto, anonymous collector’s mark floral ornament (not in Lugt) on the reverse; private collection, Austria.
The present drawing goes back to thelower part of an altar painting by Titien with six saints in the church San Niccolo della Lattuga in Venice (c. 1530). The respective detail was reproduced in the reverse direction and with minor alterations in a woodcut by Niccolo Boldrini (1510 - c.1570).
