Austrian School of the 2nd half of the 19th century - Property from Aristocratic Estates and Important Provenance

Portrait of Prince Wilhelm zu Schaumburg-Lippe (1834- 1906) as a major of the imperial-royal Bohemian infantry regiment "Alfred Fürst zu Windisch-Graetz" No. 14, decorated with the mit dem Princely Order of the House of Schaumburg-Lippe and Albert the Bear’s Order of the Ducal House of Anhalt, oil on canvas, 90 x 75 cm, unframed, (GS)

Provenance: Princes of Schaumburg- Lippe

Prince Wilhelm zu Schaumburg-Lippe, since 1862 married to Princess Bathildis of Anhalt, was head of the secundogeniture-entailed estate Nachod-Chwalkowitz in East Bohemia from 1860 onwards. He administered this large estate according to very modern principles. During his military career he earned the rank of imperial-royal field marshal lieutenant. Prince Wilhelm was the father of Queen Charlotte von Württemberg and of Duchess Adelheid von SachsenAltenburg.
