“The balls carved with foliate motifs rest heavily on the far ends of the armrests. The motif of the vase of roses adorning the backrest was a characteristic formal element in the period after 1908. In 1914, identical chairs and a circular table were used to furnish the room reserved for the Österreichisches Museum at the Werbund Exhibition in Cologne. An identical group can also be seen in a reproduction of the entrance hall of Villa Rothberger in Baden, which was built by Prutscher around 1914.” (Vera J. Behal, Möbel des Jugendstils, Sammlung des Österreichischen Museums für angewandte Kunst, Munich 1981)
