We are grateful to Prof. Giancarlo Sestieri, who examined the painting in the original, for confirming its authenticity. The present painting is a variant of a composition (40 x 33.3 cm) by Andrea Locatelli from a series of four genre scenes in the Galleria dell'Accademia di San Luca in Rome (see A. Busiri Vici, Andrea Locatelli e il paesaggio romano del Settecento, Rome 1976, no. 231, p. 148, pl. 181)
