Were this work not by the ingenious Bosnian painter Ljubomir Percinli´c , one might believe that “Mediterrane Landschaft”, executed in 1990, represents the absolute peak of an artistic career, one fulfilled in this painting. The sophisticated technique of gluing, collaging and the crumpling of fine paper painted in monotone grey tones on a plywood board, together with the exceptionally refined, spiritual aesthetic of the formal in reproducing the content, would certainly indicate this. Percinli´c executed the painting “Mediterrane Landschaft” (Mediteranski predio), with its consistent reduction of form and colour, eight years before his death, around the time in which he executed several similar works using this technique. The work is a small masterpiece of collage and painting. Only on further inspection does one become aware of the collaging and wrinkling of the irregular and partially slanting surfaces. These ultimately contribute to the covert three-dimensional effect which unfolds before our eyes, unconsciously fascinating and drawing in the observer. ...
