(Città di Castello, Perugia 1915–1995 Nice) Bianco Cretto, signed, dated Burri 71, on the reverse a signed dedication from the artist, acrovinilyc on thin cardboard, 12.5 x 20.5 cm, framed, (PP)
The work has been registered by the Fondazione Palazzo Albizzini, Collezione Alberto Burri, Città di Castello.
Provenance:
Private Collection, Italy (1971, purchased directly from the artist)
Following the tumultuous events lived through twenty years of matter, the Cretti appear to allude to a „passive“ moment of the imagination of the artist. What we see resolved in an alchemic combination of kaolin, vinavil and pigment in the exclusive range of whites and blacks, at least in the virtual sense does not lead one to think of some kind of participation by the artist. It appears only as an indifferent and inexorable event as every geological phenomenon is. The surface of the picture cracks into fissures and mosaic scales, perceptible through their luminous relevance which fix a primordial and epic moment of the existing. (H. Bergson, in: Burri, Milan, 2005, page 170)
