Curradi’s paintings are characterised, as is this painting, by their simple compositions and elegant, melancholic figures. The figure of St. John exhibits similarities with that of Adam in the picture, Adam, Eve and their sons (private ownership) as well as the figure of Narcissus (Galleria Palatina, Florence).
