Diepenbeeck was strongly influenced by Peter Paul Ruben and Rubens had several drawings by Diepenbeeck in his collection, which were engraved by P. Pontius.
The reference to Eys next to the date appears to refer to a town of that name, which lies some 40 km from the town of Diepenbeeck in Belgium, from where the artist’s family took their name.
