The present painting can be compared to works by Veneto-Byzantine artists of Cretan origin such as Andreas Ritzos (Candia circa 1422–1498) and Nicholaus Tzafouris (Candia circa 1455–1501). Also comparable are the early compositions by Angelo Bizamano (active 1482–1539) and in particular the fragments of the polyptych executed in 1518–19 for the Church of the Holy Spirit, Komolac.
