Certificate: Prof. Ugo Ruggeri: ‘Il dipinto è l‘una versione molto variata … del dipinto di eguale soggetto nella Pinacoteca della Fondazione Querini Stampalia di Venezia … reca la scritta: ‘Prospetto Della Chiesa di S: Pietro Con il Corso Che Sono/ Le Domeniche di Quaresima.’ ‘Gabriele Bella è l’ultimo protagonista della grande stagione veneziana settecentesca della veduta.’ This is a modified version of the same subject in the Pinacoteca Querini Stampalia in Venice, which is inscribed: “View of the church of San Pietro di Castello, with the processions held on Sundays from Quaresima…” Gabriele Bella is the last protagonist of the Golden Age of 18th Century Venetian veduta painting.

This procession shows the solemn entrance of the Doge into the former palace of the patriarch of Venice next to the church of San Pietro di Castello in Venice. The Doge is recognizable by his cap (corno dogale) and golden parasol
