The artist Cordula von Bandemer was the wife of Rudolph von Bandemer (1829-1906), of Schloß Selesen in Pomerania, who was awarded the first State Prize for excellence in breeding horses. The Trakehner Thunderclap v. Mickle Fell u. d. Toise was perhaps the best half-blood stallion ever born in Trakehnen. Under August von Schwichow, he was Trakehnen’s chief stud stallion for 21 years (1844-1863).
