A "Psyche" Dressing Table,

designed by Ulrike Lienbacher * in 2010 for ak7 "“ Contemporary Design for Contemporary Artists, manufactured by Peter Holzer, Schwaz, and wood carver Harald Steinbacher, Angeliberg, Austria, smoked oak, hand-carved lime wood mirror frame in the shape of braids, continuously rotable and slidable, with a drawer, height 135 cm, width 90 cm, depth 54 cm. (DR) No. 3 from the limited edition of seven. With a certificate. Lit.: The Art of Design, ak7-Contemporary Design by Contemporary Artists, Vienna 2010, pp. 64"“67.Ulrike Lienbacher"™s works concentrate on the phenomenon of the authentic body, which can hardly be imagined any longer without identity constructions, attributions, and value judgements. These works are attempts to both break free from such attributions and compensate for the loss of the body and face. Lienbacher makes use of these shifts in order to reunite the two of them and then make them drift apart again "“ such as in her work "Psyche", where the mirror as a central element, enclosed by a bright braid of lime wood, gradually takes on an uncanny aspect. The Austrian label ak7 exclusively devotes itself to the production and marketing of design objects conceived by international artists. These objects are always manufactured in editions of seven, with a particular focus on perfect craftsmanship. So far, ak7 has realized objects designed by Erwin Wurm, Louis Weinberger, Martin Walde, Ester Stocker, Maeve Rendle, Ulrike Lienbacher, Shilpa Gupta, Sissi Farassat, and Pavel Büchler.
