A "Split Table",
designed by Ron Arad in 1989, executed by Poltronova, Italy, in around 1995, Italy, walnut, brushed steel, rubber, with factory brand: R. Arad/poltronova, height 74.5 cm, width 88 cm, length 155"“280 cm. (DR) The prototype designed for the exhibition "Abitare "“ Il tempo" in Verona in 1990. Altogether only some 15 pieces were produced of this model, which were exclusively made to order. An extension table with legs on castors consisting of two short variants put together, with the slats of the tabletops interlocking. The "Split Table" was designed to serve "Split Chairs". When extra chairs are needed each chair splits in two and the table can be stretched to twice its length. Four legs become six legs. Provenance: private property, Villach, Austria, purchased c. 1995.
