August Specht was a German animal painter and pupil of Heinrich Läpple and Albert Kappis. In 1898 he published his book with animal illustrations with plates and descriptions of animals written in poetry. He made illustrations for the "Gartenlaube" and was a member of the Deutsche Künstlerbund.
