In 1909, Hermann Schieberth arrived in Vienna, where he established a studio. The focus of his work was portraiture, his clientele being prominent people from the world of the arts and the stage. From the 1920s, he also started taking nude photography, which was published widely, as well as being sold as picture postcards by Kilophot. He mastered several fine printing techniques, and was known for his excellent prints. In 1939, Schieberth was forced to emigrate. He left for Shanghai, where he died in around 1948.
