1965 Mercedes-Benz 600

1965 Mercedes-Benz 600 - Classic Cars

Delivered to Vienna, with the last owner since 1970!

Sensationally preserved!

Mercedes-Benz premiered the 600 at the Frankfurt Motor Show in autumn 1963. What at the time was “the best car in the world” pushed the boundaries of engineering, creating a premium-class saloon car for emperors, kings, politicians and captains of industry. Countless silent hydraulic helpers ensure the well-being of passengers. Air suspension and immense power delivered a hitherto unseen level of comfort, wrapped up in an altogether impressive driving performance. By 1981, only 2,677 models had been built in endless hours of meticulous manual labour, producing two different wheelbase variants.

This 600 was delivered by the general importer Wiesenthal GmbH & Co KG in March 1966 to the firm A. u. R. Hinteregger, which itself acted as the official representatives of Ford. In turn, Ford had nothing comparable in its programme. The car returned to Wiesenthal 18 months later. The 600 was registered to another Viennese company for two years from 1968 onward, before being purchased by the consignor’s father in 1970! The greatest of all Mercedes remained registered until 1997, before finally retiring. Today it is found in a sensational original condition, although it has lost some of its lustre after 20 years spent largely at rest. But the engine still starts, and the Mercedes runs, brakes and steers, while the many little assistants on the lush, originally preserved interior - for instance the window and seat regulators - continue to operate faithfully. It has even preserved its pleasant scent of leather. Clad in its original anthracite metallic, the exterior is at least equal to the interior, lending this 600 a magnificent charisma. Its preservation is just as unique as its history, making this Mercedes 600 truly one of a kind!
