Southwest Caucasus, c. 194 x 129 cm, late 19th century, with a plethora of differently patterned borders, a central field with five complete staggered octagons and bright colours, this carpet is qualitatively one of the highlights of the “Besim Collection”, both original finishes have survived, minimal traces of usage around the centre of the field, otherwise soft full pile, brown heavily oxidised in places, the upper finish has been largely filled in.
