Lakai Suzani,
Uzbekistan, c. 220 x 145 cm, late 19th century, silk embroidery on a rare three-piece red cotton ground, the circular suzani medallions typical of this region are exclusively restricted to the area along the border in the present specimen, the ground is decorated with blossoming trees in one direction, this piece displays a very open pattern in disciplined execution, a few minor holes, otherwise in good condition, backed with regional fabric, a cotton band with rings for mounting has been attached to the back at the top.
