Yomut ‘C-Gul’ Central Carpet,
West Turkestan, c. 315 x 177 cm, beginning of the 19th century, early kepse central carpet with c-gul decorations in the core of the guls, white curled leaf and ashik border and two elems with different patterns; the present piece’s narrow format, its balanced, diagonal kepse field pattern, its dry back as well as its magnificent colours suggest a manufacturing date about 1800; mostly low pile with numerous repairs, blue side edges original, both ends with fragmented weaving finish.
