South Turkestan, c. 192 x 145 cm, about 1900, the central field of this tent door hanging depicts the tripartite ‘world tree’ of shamanism, the upper and lower worlds are separated by a horizontal Gas Ayak stripe, superbly soft pile wool, the original finishes and edges have survived, goat hair warp, lower end woven.
