Heriz Sharabian,
Northwest Persia (Iran), c. 237 x 167 cm, early 20th century, in the Azeri village of Sharabian, in the Heriz region, Heriz-like carpet designs were produced, which display a higher quality, very exact knotting technique and dense pile; the present item features a classic, sharply designed star medallion, consistently full pile and original finishes all around. Because of its firmly depressed knotting, the carpet, when not in use, should not be heavily bent and should be rolled with the pile on the outside: as a result of inadequate storage for the aforementioned reason, some repairs and three as yet unstitched small tears are detectable on the long side.
