Southwest Anatolia (Turkey), c. 164 x 114 cm, beginning of the 19th century, prayer rug in exquisite knotting with magnificent colours and design, the red mihrab with kotchak-like crest is very harmoniously filled with large and small rosettes, the white-ground prayer niche covered in jagged blossoms creates a balancing contrast, special attention deserves the large, apricot-coloured main border with arrow-filled blossoms and eight-pointed stars indicating the four cardinal points, ample use of aubergine colour, with good pile considering its age, only a few repairs to the upper corners and the upper right long side, replaced side edges, a few rows of knots in the lower finish have been filled in.
