A Hack Chair, Ronen Kadushin,
2010/12, laser-cut and manually bent 6-mm-thick aluminium sheet, inscribed: Hack Chair Ronen Kadushin 2012, produced in Berlin, height 85 cm, width 64 cm, depth 50 cm. (DR) Produced for the travelling exhibition “Berlin Design” in den USA as the third of altogether three objects. Exhibited in: Recent Uploads Exhibition, Appel Design Gallery, Berlin 2010 - Open Design Now, BIS, Amsterdam 2010 - The Form of Co-Creation: the Reality in the Digital Fabrication Era, Kyoto City University of Arts Art Gallery 2010 - Berlin Design, New York 2012 und Miami 2012. A chair with a literally “hacked” look that was designed following a war response to my Open Design work from the hacker community. It is the first chair designed for the Recent Uploads collection and is, as all my work from the past eight years, an Open Design, meaning that the chair’s design plans can be downloaded from my website by anyone to copy, produce, modify, or experiment with. Open Design is a proposal to shift Industrial Design to become relevant in a globally networked culture. (Ronen Kadushin)
