A “Mavo” club chair, - Design

designed and manufactured by Mathis Esterhazy * in 1987/88, for the “Mavo” Club in Vienna, forged and black lacquered iron, red leather, height 59 cm, width 78 cm, depth 59 cm, height of seat 38 cm. (DR) One out of 25 handmade club chairs that were also referred to as “Cows”. “Mavo”, once a hot spot in Vienna’s Joanelligasse, had been conceived by Josef Ortner as a kind of club and was opened in winter 1988. Works of art formed an integral part of the interior decoration. The design of the furniture was entrusted to Mathis Esterhazy. The curtain was designed by Peter Kogler, while the ceiling decoration was painted by Franz Graf. Gerwald Rockenschaub designed the drinks menu, and Richard Höck developed the bar’s logotype.
