Outstanding fire screen,
Nuremberg, late 19th century, designed by Konradin Walter, sculptural work by Georg Leistner, cast by Kunstgießerei Lenz. A high relief bronze cast after the Mannerist style of the 16th century. In filigree and pierced work with fabulous creatures, masks and female semi-nudes and a central medallion depicting "Neptune flanked by horses". 84 x 81 cm. Fitted into a later temporary frame. Fine condition. (PZ) Konradin Walter (1946-1910) and Georg Leistner (1854-1943) taught at the Nuremberg school of applied arts and were involved in the production of the marble fireplace at the ceremonial room at Schloß Ratibor, the Geiers fountain in Nuremberg, the Pauli fountain in Erlangen and the Neue St. Pterskirche in Nuremberg.
