Imre Revesz *

Imre Revesz was a genre painter and illustrator. He studied in Vienna with Christian Griepenkerl and in Paris with Mihály Munkáscy, Bertalan Székely and Leopold Carl Müller. In 1883 his works were exhibited in Munich, Vienna, Antwerp and Paris. He won a bronze medal at the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1889 and 1900. In 1904 he was appointed professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. From 1920–1932 he taught at the art school in Kecskemet. He illustrated the poems of Hungary’s national poet, Sandor Petöfi. Some of his paintings are held by the National Gallery in Budapest.
