Belin de Fontenay was the pupil and colleague of Jean Baptiste Monnoyer. From 1687 he was a member of the Parisian Academy. Amongst Belin's key works are decorative schemes for the Palaces of Versailles, Marly, Trianon, Compiègne and Fontainebleau.
