Peter van Kessel painted floral still lifes, in particular garlands and allegorical representations. He is documented as having been in Gdansk in 1668, thereafter in Lübeck and Copenhagen, where he worked for the Danish court. His floral garlands are reminiscent, as can be seen here, of the works of Jan van Kessel I.
